class in electric blue

happened upon an episode of sherlock holmes recently — the copper beeches. not one of my favorite holmes stories, but good enough to check out.
wasn’t too long into it that i saw violet hunter, the governess. lordy lordy! what a tasty, tidy little thing. beautiful voice, and distinct look. couldn’t believe i’d never seen her before. had to google.
found her eventually. the mystery woman was a very young natasha richardson, who i’d first noticed when my daughter turned me on to the surprisingly cool remake the parent trap years ago.

the pics from this copper beeches mosaic don’t convey what a striking presence she was. great voice and intensity. a small project, but it was one of her first film roles. more mosaics here.
that’s natasha on the left with her husband liam something or other — a hollywood nobody, as i recall.
haven’t checked the official stats, but it’s likely there have been some women through the ages who looked worse in a dress.
