damned self-interested profiteers
seems that subway has been operating a complex scheme to make money by demonstrating that people have lost weight eating at its restaurants.
“I’m pleased they’ve lost weight, but we’re talking about something that’s got to be a lifelong thing. The idea that you can eat at just one place is completely daft,” said Obesity Action Coalition director Celia Murphy.
…
[...] Murphy believes Subway, along with other fast food giants like McDonald’s, is engaging in cynical marketing ploys as the anti-obesity war rages.“It’s their job to sell food and make money. I don’t think they’re doing it to solve the obesity problem.”
yeah, screw them; they’re not in business to solve the obesity problem! what a crazy world, huh? the very notion that somebody would advertize possible benefits of their products to make money… it just really grinds my gears. it’s time somebody took some real action against obesity and sat around yammering about shit. if not now, when?
