not so fast on barrett firearms
GeekWithA.45 is lauding ronnie barrett for stating, among other things, that barrett firearms mfg., inc. chooses “not to support in anyway state or local governments who are against the US Constitution and the safety and security of this nation.”
okay, that sounds ballsy at first, but i’m calling bullshit. barrett, whose .50 BMGs are the world’s preferred big-daddy sniper rifles, has sold, and continues to sell, tons of units to the federal government — without question the biggest enemy of the US constitution (over the 50 state governments combined). has barrett forgotten that 25 rifles he sold to his favorite client were handed directly to osama bin laden back when OBL was a “good” guy (according to the fed masters of blowback)? i know most hard-core republicans-in-name-only want to be company men and pretend that bush and his predecessors’ actions are aiding the dumbass-named “war on terror”, but c’mon… let’s stop the suspension of disbelief. bush and company blew their wad in iraq of all places. enough said.
no, this is a bunch of posturing nonsense — clearly a lesser of two short-term financial evils for barrett firearms. they don’t have shit for a market in CA anyway, so what’s there to lose? the CA LE cash cow? get real. btw, that’s a story in itself, what any LE screwballs are doing with a .50 BMG.
when ronnie barrett tells the feds to fuck off, give me a holler. i’ll run out and buy a barrett the same day, whether or not i can afford it.
y’know, i’m damned sorry that the maker of a kickass gun is getting screwed, but let’s not put our heads in the sand just to postpone a few years longer the inevitable ass-kicking coming our way. it only makes it worse. time for all companies with heart (especially the airlines, but that’s another story) to take a real stand. and if they’re not going to, then let them spare us the hollow rhetoric. i’m not fooled by any of it.
wanna know why barrett specified only “state or local governments” in its announcement? here’s the answer:
United States defense contractors such as Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc., Murfreesboro, TN USA rely on orders from the US Military as a primary source of income…
is anybody really fooled by this tough guy stance? apparently so. too bad.

…loved your comment on Ronnie Barrett. I am a former employee that has been threatened by RB with lawsuits if I blab about the goings on inside BFMI…
…just let me say you are right on with your comments… Ronnie dosn’t give a shit about the constitution as long as the money rolls in…

thanks. though it’s the usual blindness from the supposed “from my cold dead hands” crowd, i’m surprised so many fell for it with that obvious omission of the fed lawbreakers. all posture, no fight.
shame that what should be one of the best places to work (a gun maker) is now almost an impossible job for any freedom lover. by the time i was offered informally a return to beretta USA — one of my favorite employers ever — it was impossible for me to accept because of the permanent collaboration with state and fed goons.
