It was another Republican president, Ronald Reagan, who gained fame as the “Teflon president” – none of the muck and mire of his terms in office stuck to him. Now George W Bush’s presidency is faced with a constant stream of bad news, especially from Iraq and Afghanistan, and yet his support numbers are hardly affected. Ehsan Ahrari looks at why.
