ashlee simpson, etc.
the world is in SHOCK because a tech glitch exposed ashlee simpson using a recorded vocal on SNL. i’d like for all the grand high pooh bah critics to try dancing and singing once. or just try jumping up and down and singing. jerkoffs.
surprisingly, the article provides a sensible voice from the director of a britney spears stage show: “Of course she lip-syncs. … You couldn’t dance like she does and still maintain the quality of sound she wants to.”
after ignoring britney spears for years amid constant sniping of her “talent”, i was surprised to see an old SNL where she was the musical guest. she’s a great dancer, and a very good singer (definite live vocal on one ballad). put together, that makes top notch entertainment. last year when i was headed toward auburn for the austrian scholars conference, i was flipping through the foreign radio stations and stopped cold on a song with the hook, “i’m addicted to you, but you know that you’re toxic” or something like that. superb singing and production. picked up my pocket PC and made a note to find out how it was. of course, it was britney spears. why she gets no popular critical support is something i can’t understand. is there a “this is the next miles davis” sticker on her albums? not that i know of.
but then, i liked the spice girls. still do.
