puzzled and myst-o-fied

sometimes i take the web for granted, but now and then i sit back to think of what has happened in just 10 years. the part that really gets my brain hurting is the number of free services we enjoy. google, something i use often, charges me nothing. the advertising is friendly and out of the way.

bloglines? i have no idea how they make money. i haven’t paid them a thing, and what a treat it is to use.

the web validates market principles. look at what people can accomplish without government. private enterprise stepped in, and the internet blossomed. blogger.com — my blog database is stored there. i have mostly 24-hour access to it, albeit sometimes spotty. i’ve never paid them a thing. i don’t recall ever seeing an ad there. they respond to my tech support queries as though i’m a paying customer.

people can look at that and then defend government? how? the web is a miracle, government a sickness.
