Brother MFC-8440 Laser Flatbed All-in-One
i’d been making so many copies of documents lately that i broke down and bought this gizmo here. from the reviews at amazon, i figured it would be good to get, even though i already have a great, if old and now comparatively slow, HP laserjet (the classic 4L). been a hard core HP adherent for years, based on my business experience. however, they have a horrible reputation for their all-in-one home office stuff.
i now swear by this damned machine. it’s amazing. copies as well as one of the big rigs (w/o stapling though, of course), and the laser printer inside is primo. faxes well too. i’ve always hated faxing, but it’s funny how much opportunity you find to use one when it’s there. my house mates have been faxing like mad with it. can’t believe such a low-priced unit has such a screaming document feeder (the achilles heel of the document processing world). its handling of voice/fax calls is primo.
overall, it ain’t perfect, but it’s real sweet. after a $50 rebate i paid $350. if you’re looking for a new doc printer, consider this as a bitchin’ printer and then some. what a bargain. great product. me so horny.
