tea in a coffee machine
like any good american, i love coffee. but sometimes tea is just the thing. can tea be made in a coffee machine? you bet!
i don’t even rinse out the basket. just rinse the gold mesh filter well, pop a paper filter inside that (to slow down the water and give it more time with the tea), and then put in loose tea leaves. doesn’t take much. as with coffee, i prefer distilled water to keep the machine clean.
what could be better than opening a fresh tin of earl grey and inhaling the scent? (i can only think of one thing.)
; )
OT: i went googling for a nice pic of a twinings earl grey tin and couldn’t find one, even at the twinings site. well screw it; i have the GIMP, right? i just set my tin up in the window, popped a light on that to augment the overcast sunlight, snapped a pic with my cheapo vidcam, then threw it in GIMP for a quick processing. anybody who farms this low-level photo stuff out is probably busy, rich, or ignorant.
click the pic above to see the original. interesting how a quick cleanup gives it that pro look.
oops, i just noticed it’s crooked. ha! need a little tighter QC on my photo pretending. works okay for this post though. rush job.

Great idea, thanks! I’m torn (as usual) between Earl Grey and good English Breakfast (and I’ve had it across the pond, so I know it when I taste it) as a favorite … and peppermint tea is also a top contender.
Have you tried Stash Tea? It’s been a long while since I’ve bought from them, but last time I did, it was a bunch of different teas, and I wasn’t disappointed in any of them. One was a double-bergamot Earl Grey … mmmmm!

yeah, it’s nice to give earl grey a rest now and then, as with almost anything. haven’t tried stash tea. not a big tea experimenter. funny, but i like just straight lipton a lot. that’s a good variation now and then.
double-bergamot. isn’t that cheating?

I guess it’s cheating if Lady Grey is also cheating. I don’t generally drink a lot of tea now that I’m a coffee fiend, but I do enjoy it, and especially enjoy making sun tea in the summer. I don’t like the caramel-apple and similar crap being made today, but will give classic teas I’ve not yet tried, along with interesting-looking herbals, a try. Stash has plenty of all kinds, and often some great bargains.
