fan mail from a goon

thought goon watchers might enjoy this email i received from one of the subjects of this article. i have a fairly strict policy of not publishing emails without permission. however, though i don’t have permission to blog this puffer-brained, sanctimonious asshole’s email, i’ll apologize only after he apologizes to all of us. i want a refund.

Dear [pseudonym]: A friend of mine emailed the link to your article “Candy Canes of Bamboozlement” in which you took a shot at me for this quote: “”It’s part of our strategy to defeat the bad guys. It puts them on edge.”

While I did say that, the context in which you used it is completely innaccurate. I was not discussing the color code system, but simply the need to inform the public when we have information or intelligence that will help us disrupt the terrorists. We have actual intelligence that proves that the terrorists either slow or cease operations when the American people are more vigilant. In fact, public announcements, such as the one made by the Attorney General and FBI Director, remind the public that we need their help. In the first 24 hours after the press conference, the FBI Joint Terrorism ask Force received hundreds of leads from ordinary Americans. There is no intention to manipulate (your word) the system or the people – simply to inform and help all of us be better protected from an enemy that seeks to murder as many of us as possible.

You can attack me all you want, but I’ll take the attacks in exchange for the safety of innocent Americans.
