DHS Official Charged in Online Seduction

A deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was charged with using a computer to seduce a child after authorities said he struck up sexual conversations with an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl.

can somebody please explain to me how these prosecutions are not instantly machine-gunned into dust at trial? how can you be convicted for a crime the prosecutors assert loudly in their presentation didn’t occur? is it illegal to have sexually explicit conversations with an adult pretending to be a 14-year-old? i’d like to see that “law”! LOL

oh, i’m sure some dumbass has either tired it or done it — hell, just look at the dancing here around the commerce clause.

“it is prohibited to talk dirty to an adult pretending to be jail bait.” i know. it probably is out there. i’m openly ignorant about this “law”, even though i sat through part of a similar case in a local circuit court one day. don’t feel like looking into it right now. if anybody knows how an explicit law covers sex talk to an adult, whatever the pretend situation, please send me a link or something.
