the headline: Minimum Wage Workers Lose Political War

it’s an AP story masquerading as something other than state worship. some of the text:

Both Democrats and Republicans insist they emerged as winners from last week’s failed GOP effort to cut taxes on multimillion dollar estates and raise the minimum wage.
[...]
The estate tax doesn’t have to be addressed until the end of 2010, when current law expires, giving farmers and the small business lobby ample time. It’s common wisdom in Washington that the so-called tax extenders will pass this fall despite Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s declaration that last week’s shot was the only one they’ll get.

Left behind, however, are more than 5 million hotel maids, dishwashers, fast food and janitorial workers and other minimum wage earners stuck at $5.15 an hour. Adjusted for inflation, the minimum wage is the lowest it’s been in 50 years.

in the article was pile after pile of horrendous “bread and circuses” nonsense from the usual republicrat horde, the legality of which was not challenged in any way by the reporter andrew taylor. no, they get the 100% free ride, doing their socialism scam against the supreme law of the land.

forget the politicians’ rhetoric for a minute though and just look at what crimes are supported by the reporter and the headline writer. he or they allege that “5 million hotel maids, dishwashers, fast food and janitorial workers and other minimum wage earners stuck at $5.15 an hour” have lost the political war. assuming that the number of “minimum wage” workers is correct, how was it determined that those 5 million are “stuck” at $5.15 an hour? they can’t advance? says who?

the real disaster though is that the ethics of this proposed “law” are assumed to be spotless — above reproach. but what is a minimum wage law when it, not voluntary interaction, raises someone’s wage? it is theft. and this AP scum duo (or solo act) is alleging that by not being the beneficiaries of theft, these supposedly stuck workers have lost something. no, they have been thwarted from further theft, and from further displacement of those attempting to enter the job market.

to any moral man with half a brain, this is a victory for “minimum wage” workers. there is no other way to slice it. yet the “objective” news puke sells the state to his readers. “come and get your all entangling state!”
