‘just a goddamned piece of paper’
in refuting one of the many brainless stooges at youtube who insist that it’s correct to claim, as does America: from Freedom to Fascism, that bush said, “The Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper”, i once again visited the original article by doug thompson at capitol hill blue.
i recalled from reading the article when it came out that he claimed three direct witnesses. though none would go on record, he stood by the claim adamantly. in my opinion, the most one could say about the alleged bush quote with those “sources” was that it was alleged. the movie offers a perverted version (see below) as an undisputed bush quote. as i’ve written before, that’s unacceptable. it gets worse though.
first, and probably insignificant to most people, the quote in the movie does not match even the allegation. this is sloppy crud, and aaron russo can kiss my ass. what a slopmeister.
as you can see from the trailer capture above, russo claims (adjusting for font) that bush said,
“The Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper.”
from the original article:
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
as i’ll explain in a minute, there’s far more fucked up there than just the laughably sloppy disrespect for the power of language. but concentrating on literal accuracy for a moment, constructing new sentences for an alleged, unapproved quote is not acceptable — in any case, for anybody, at any time. russo fucked up one thing after another in this one screen. if he wanted to quote the article, it should have been “[The Constitution is] just a goddamned piece of paper.”
he couldn’t even get the “goddamned” right, in a short snippet for an internationally distributed movie. it is not the place of another party to judge whether a word change is small or large; that’s up to the one allegedly being quoted.
all of that is bad enough, but here’s the bigger problem: doug thompson now claims that all of his sources have folded (same article):
(WRITER’S NOTE: When this story was written, three sources told me they personally heard President Bush call the Constitution a “goddamned piece of paper.” I have since learned that two of the sources were not present for the meeting and were, in fact, passing on second-hand information. The third now refuses to either confirm or deny the report. That leaves us with a decision. Do we kill the story or add this explanation? I originally killed the story but decided later to restore it to the database because there is still enough information floating around that suggests the President of the United States did make the statement. [...]
the author of the sole original article on the subject now says information “suggests” bush said it. well, that’s a far fucking cry from his original swearing to the veracity of his three sources.
hey, aaron russo, go fuck yourself. this is exactly what you get when you shoot off your mouth for convenience instead of truth. every time some liberty advocate spews this crap without accuracy, it makes things harder. maybe one day these attention-starved “blah blah” fucks will figure it out. accuracy, truth, and liberty are inseparable. those fighting for liberty do not need people on the margin refusing to listen anymore because they got sold one too many pieces of dreck. things aren’t bad enough? you need to invent atrocities?
bullshit. the truth matters. learn it. know it. live it.

dood. um, do you think that maybe you could use capital letters at the beginning of your sentences at the very least? Just a suggestion.
Bush and all US presidents back to and including Eisenhower are Zionist communists that need to be outed and executed for treason (those that are still alive, anyway). End of story. Now stick that in your tinfoil hat.
Good luck to you, you fool. Looks like you’ll need plenty of it.
If you want more truth, you can go to http://www.nationalvanguard.com, otherwise, go to cnn.com, msnbc.com, time.com, or any other mainstream news outlet or source. They tell you all the lies you can shake a stick at because they are owned and run by communist, Zionist swine.
Viva Joe McCarthy. Viva the truth!

relevant comments are better; you are spewing irrelevant bullshit. “tinfoil hat”? WTF. where do you get that from this post? your routine dodge, i guess. if you think i’m opposed to trying all living presidents for treason, you haven’t read my blog. hell, you didn’t even read this post, apparently.
re mixed case, yes, that’s a genius thought. thank you.
oh, and joe mccarthy was an overreaching, power-grabbing asshole, despite his anti-communism. i know it’s trendy to defend him, but still incorrect; an asshole is an asshole is an asshole. fuck you, and fuck him.

You fucking government shill — fuck you. Suck my fucking dick you piece of shit.
Go get your chip implanted, you shill, and fuck off.

i’ll assume you’re joking. or stupid. or supremely ignorant.
October 26th, 2006 at 11:41
I think you missed the point. There may have been a slight misquotation which is reason to be angry — but I’m more pissed off that we now have accepted fascism as an acceptable form of government

You know, it’s been a while since I studied my grammar. However, it is very clear that “it’s” in the original article is a direct reference to “The Constitution” which was one of two subjects in the sentence (Constitution and face). It goes without saying that the President was not referring to his face as a piece of paper. Sure it is true that the quote should have been accurate in the movie. Actually, the quote from the article is even more powerful than Russo’s paraphrased quote.
Ultimately though, the President of the United States said that the document that freed our nation is just a piece of paper when everyone knows it is far more than a piece of paper.

why does this post attract so many retards? is the problem that none of you read it through, or you’re just too stupid to understand? well, i’ll spell it out for you dumb motherfuckers.
first, there is no decisive, reliable evidence that bush said anything along these lines. < << read that again. i shouldn't need to point this out, since the post makes it clear.
did you entirely miss the part where the one person who publicly alleged the statement was made was not there, and that nobody present at the instant meeting said anything on the record? he has no backup. are you really so moronic and clueless that this means nothing to you? you’re yapping about something as if it happened, but you don’t know. it’s a rumor, peabrains. get your heads out of your asses. apparently, you have one standard of accuracy for those you agree with, and another for those you don’t. that means you suck. far from there being audio or video recording of it, it’s 100% hearsay which the alleged witnesses won’t corroborate. your stupid comments assume bush said this, but you don’t know. if you think i need to be instructed on bush’s actual pissing on the constitution, you haven’t spent more than 5 minutes at this blog. however, i don’t make up shit and say bush said it. as i’ve written many times, truth is essential for liberty.
re the accuracy of russo’s “quote”, assuming the truth of doug thompson’s claim, an alleged quote should be to the letter, or it should have caveats (e.g., brackets, disclaimer). i’m not arguing whether the gross meaning is the same, nor am i making the ludicrous pitch that bush was talking about his face (you goddamned unbelievable dumbass; read the post). it’s irrelevant.
if your brain sucks, or if you’re too lazy to engage it, just STFU.

I agree that it’s not an accurately sourced quote. Having said that, I would still believe he said it, and I’m saddened that it wasn’t properly documented, but coming from a man who has said things like these other well documented/sourced famous quotes (see below) it’s not surprising that such a thing would come out of that fools mouth.
“We need an energy bill that encourages consumption.” -George W. Bush
“When Iraq is liberated, you will be treated, tried, and persecuted as a war criminal.” -George W. Bush
“I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe – I believe what I believe is right.” -George W. Bush
“Natural gas is hemispheric. I like to call it hemispheric in nature because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods.” -George W. Bush
“One has a stronger hand when there’s more people playing your same cards.” –George W. Bush, on holding six-party talks with North Korea, Washington, D.C., Oct. 11, 2006

Many more, and more to come I’m sure. The man is a fool and he’s destroying the basic freedoms we have in the US. I have no problem believing he said “Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

if somebody wants to believe bush said that, it’s in line with his behavior, and not a stretch. when they tell others he said it, they’re wrong.
i think bush is scum — about as low as it gets. however, it’s too easy to find generally stupid shit somebody said when much of his day is recorded. yeah, i think bush is stupid, but he has much bigger problems than that. interesting how so many people hone in on his stupidity while he’s a vile murderer. says a lot about how indoctrinated most people are into accepting the concept of political “leaders”, something entirely at odds with liberty.

To bring to focus a possible non-quote from a movie such as America Freedom to Fascism is insane!
It’s like complaining about the rain during the midst of a Tsunami!

the movie blows. finally saw the whole thing. what a piece of shit. yeah, there’s good stuff — about 10 minutes. russo is a typical “show me the law” moron.
this post is only one aspect of what sucks about the movie, but it’s important and representative. i stand by it. you are a fool.

Let’s all stand around like a bunch of knuckleheads and argue amongst ourselves about absolutely nothing. That’s what the dictatorship is hoping for. That is their design and their work – to keep us fighting amongst ourselves and to keep our eyes off the ball.
Whether Bush said it or didn’t say it doesn’t really matter. The comment won’t make the subjects or the dictators any better or worse off than they are already.
If he did say it, I am not the least bit surprised. And in answer to his stupidity, I would have to say, “And so too are your executive orders just goddamned pieces of paper, George. Meaningless pieces of crap – like yourself. I will not follow them, I will not follow you – no matter what.”
If he didn’t say it, doesn’t matter. The dictator has done enough without having said it to warrant our suspicion of his behavior and to demand his impeachment and his prosecution for crimes he and his dictatorship have commited against the American people and people in other parts of the world.

Let’s all stand around like a bunch of knuckleheads and argue amongst ourselves about absolutely nothing.
listen to your dishonesty, trying to repackage the subject of accuracy as “absolutely nothing”, simply because some fuckers are too stupid to understand what this post, written clearly and accurately, is about. the post was made to point out that somebody lauded by the “libertarian” community for exposing the truth was lying. truth and hypocrisy are not “absolutely nothing”, you fucking worthless obfuscater. shove the bullshit, posturing rhetoric back up your ass. nobody who’s not a retard will buy your slimy salesman angle.
next time you’re at a restaurant and your order comes out screwed, play for yourself the tape of you doing the “argue amongst ourselves about absolutely nothing” dickweed routine. but no, of course your salad dressing should be on the side, and it’s important! but never mind if somebody lies in the name of truth. that’s when all the straight up motherfuckers pull out the “hey, let’s keep our eye on the ball, fellas” schpiel. “your helmet is not a chair!” “ready, break!”
there isn’t a deep enough pit in hell for phony jerks like you doing your rodney king impersonations. accuracy is damned relevant (as i’ve written before and already linked in this post) — most of all when attempting to point out how somebody else was wrong. that’s the point. now go eat shit and make more mud pies, boy. whatever you said that wasn’t full of it was already stated in my post. you’re too busy working up your routine to have noticed, little league football coach wannabe.
