Another Case of Illegally Buying Cell Phones in Michigan

Yet another case of suspects illegally buying pre-paid cell phones has surfaced here in Michigan. This latest case comes from Ithaca.

Police say a clerk at a Dollar General store told them two possibly armed suspects have been buying cell phones there for some time.

Officers say the men became angry Friday when a store clerk told them they could only buy two phones per day. That’s the store’s policy.

The clerk also told police the men parked about a hundred yards from the store entrance.

Police have begun an investigation, but say they don’t have much to go on.

This happened on Friday, the same day three men were arrested in Caro, Michigan under terror suspicion.

Those three were arraigned Saturday and prosecutors say the target was the Mackinaw Bridge.

The three allegedly bought 80 cell phones at a Wal-Mart by purchasing them three at a time. That kept the cash register from triggering an alert.

A cashier called police, who later arrested the three north of Detroit. During the arrest, police found almost a thousand pre-paid cell phones, a laptop computer and a camera.

The three men face soliciting or providing material support for terrorism and obtaining information of a vulnerable target for purposes of terrorism.

Police say the men appear to be naturalized citizens of middle eastern decent and were from Texas.
