adam carolla and drew pinsky

do you like talk radio? having trouble finding podcast fodder for your ’3 playah?

this is your desert island material — lovelinearchive.com. i swear, this adam carolla motherfucker is the savior of the universe. funny as hell, fast, and damned smart, carolla on old loveline shows (he’s gone now) rarely disappoints. i doubt he’ll ever find a foil as perfect as “dr. drew” pinsky.

if you haven’t heard these guys, probably the best intro is to check out this brief flash animation, pasted over an audio clip from one night with frequent guest david grier. more animations here, using the same technique.

i keep many hours of old loveline shows on my MP3 player. though many of my favorites had no guest, few shows highlighted guests as well, since after the initial intro and banter, the guest’s main role was to participate in advising callers on sex, romance, drugs, and whatever. a quick scroll through each of the years at lovelinearchive should find you at least a few shows you’ll want to check out, if only for the guests.

the most surprising thing from my many hours of listening to loveline is that i’ve learned valuable information from the mistakes of others and the usually stellar advice from adam and drew. it sneaked in while i was laughing. frankly, i’ve heard about all i want to hear from the liberty circuit, and i eventually fall down weary from the usual political baloney on standard talk radio. normal “comedy” radio appeals little to my humor, so it basically comes down to one thing for me to listen to when not music. that’s old loveline, baby!
