cult of ron paul

all hail 2008, the goal line for which you may watch “libertarians” fall into the same football-fan zealous duplicity as republicrat scum. james ostrowski:

I’m a big fan of Hardball on MSNBC but they dropped the ball by ignoring Ron Paul’s announcement today. It was all about Hagel, who’s having a Hamlet problem in deciding whether to run. Sorry Chuck, indecisive leadership is an oxymoron. [...]

cute. it was in that same announcement ostrowski refers to that ron paul expressed his reluctance to become a pres candidate. when ron paul hesitates it’s not “indecisive leadership”.

is it not enough that a writer hauls from belowdecks the oxymoron chortle, tiredest of rhetorical gimmicks? no, he speaks of leadership, the corrupt assertion of americans who assume supposedly constitutional government requires singular leaders. at best, politicians are symbiotic followers; they merely sense and express the stupidity of their worshiping stooges, throwing on the edges whatever opportune icing they may get away with.

this whinnying “leadership” nonsense comes from one of the LRC camp who should know better than to decry indecisiveness from politicians. how many times have you seen articles and blog posts at LRC and mises.org expressing a strong desire for political inaction, gridlock, anti-hubris, whatever? now, because it provides a lame opportunity to tout ron paul at the expense of some other wannabe president, principled foundations are windblown, and a brother contemplative delayer pilloried for diversion. hagel’s an asshole for other reasons? fine. give those and fuck off already.

you heard it here, and i’m saying it again, this ron paul candidacy will be a disaster. pathetic to see most of the supposed liberty community adrift, afflicted with terminal rock star moment. behind all this, naturally, lies their relief in finally being able to play in the horse race — something most of them enjoyed as youths, having political junkie parents who called themselves conservatives. they couldn’t be happier. it will be their time to participate in the “republic”, this joyous 2008 season. we shall overcome. sing it with me, dumb bitches!

“we shall over-cuhhhh uh ummm”

send ron paul all your dough. that’ll restore liberty from the ashes. oh, and be sure to do whatever the rulers tell you… like, um, vote. and get those forms filled out, brave libertarians; april 15 looms, and your chains are chafing. and make sure you piss on ed brown while you’re waving a ron paul placard, poser faggots. participate! action! comfort!

[...] We reject electoral politics, in theory and in practice, as incompatible with libertarian principles. Governments must cloak their actions in an aura of moral legitimacy in order to sustain their power, and political methods invariably strengthen that legitimacy. Voluntaryists seek instead to delegitimize the State through education, and we advocate withdrawal of the cooperation and tacit consent on which State power ultimately depends.
