mitt romney, free speech by mistake?

hard to believe, and maybe it’s a mistake, but the mitt romney campaign isn’t pre-censoring comments at YouTube. they may be doing so after posting, but they missed a “fuck you mitt romney” if so, and plenty of other stuff.

haven’t noticed if ron paul censors comments, probably because it wouldn’t have surprised me either way.

that’s one thing i really dig about YouTube; far as i know, they don’t have any administrators running around deleting posts because of foul language or whatever. they put that control in the hands of the individual vid submitters, who pretty much let you say whatever you want, though there are speech nazis here and there. they aren’t centrally controlled, and that’s a damned beautiful thing, because you can boycott the speech nazis while still enjoying the recipe of freedom thrown out by the typically tolerant (or maybe just unobservant/uninterested) vid poster. i predict it’ll begin to self-regulate within a few years, with a much superior result, even with the obligatory noise. hell, i was so impressed with the mitt romney comment situation, i don’t think i’ve cussed once.

even if it doesn’t self-regulate, it’s better than the “moderated” (i.e., usually censored by assholes) boards at most other places.

off topic? say it here or it'll be deleted. no spam. full censorship policy here.

update 20100729: generally, dunce comments from anonymous pussies no longer replied to. comments routed to spam queue may take weeks to publish, and sometimes be deleted accidentally from overlooking during review.
