the self-flagellating guilt gas routine seems to be catching on with non-"economists" as well. BTW, is there a mainstream (i.e., wrong) economist who doesn't get off saying "negative externalities"? yeah, it's a difficult issue, but not one warranting the transformation of a semi-honorable field into loud and unadulterated social engineering, always placing organized crime as lord high albatross. you can expose most of those dickheads by watching them go deathly silent re their glorious exception to anti-monopoly spin.

that army-buttsurfing link you unearthed pretty much tells what's going on with "the Prometheus Institute" (ha!). i wonder if they know. not going to look, but i'd like to see pics of the PI "offices". if they've received a penny of the usual think tank cash stream, i wanna know. might be a rich story, assuming you could peel the "staff" away from their basement PS3 long enough for an interview.

classic: For me, May 16, 2005 means the end of my civilian life as I know it and the beginning of a very arduous and physically challenging journey in the Marine Corps that I hope will not only open the career doors in aviation that I am hoping for, but also will allow me to look at the flag of the United States of America with a better understanding of what it means to be an American.

any non-traitor hopes he finds the doors open to a quick shootdown and the slow, painful death of his order-swilling ass by some of the people he's initiated force against from a high-altitude bullshit insulation compartment. would give him a better understanding of what it means to be an "american".

message to jason treece: as a free market economist and non commie, i want a refund. now.

all one needs to know about what draws RINO socialists to milfare recipiency.

Ooooooooh! Against my better judgment, I nosed around the Prometheus Institute's site, and boy do I regret doing that!

Just about barfed several times. Where did these kids learn about libertarianism?

Words are dead. The English language is decaying from within and has been for some time now. It's hard to even explain to someone why loving liberty is important when people have drastically different definitions of the word. Shouldn't surprise you, then, that they just don't have a clue what libertarian is supposed to represent.

I spent a good thirty-minutes yesterday reading the responses of hundreds of enraged, entitled fanboys to the announcement by game developer Splash Damage that an open public, beta version of their game would be released soon and that people could participate with either a free FilePlanet account or they could pay for a premium FilePlanet account to have easier access to the files.

Despite the clear wording of the announcement, the comments section was filled with people threatening to cancel their preorders of the upcoming game for these "shady business practices," outraged that people "already paid for the game, and now you're forcing us to pay for the beta!" Many also expressed that they had waited "too long" and the developers had had "enough time" to develop their game (all this extra time is apparently part of a plot on the part of the developers to torture their paying customers while further depriving themselves of their own paychecks).

As stupid as all of that was, this manages to rival it. Congratulations! You managed to expose me to something that pissed me off for the day!

For other socialist/statist-wolf-in-libertarian-sheep's-clothing, be sure to miss Harvard economist Greg Mankiw's blog. Greg is one of those cute, furry lil' "pragmatic" libertarian economists. He also likes Pigou/CO2-taxes.

World-Saving-Libertarians, Unite!

Pssst! Hey man, want to try a high gas tax?
