best laugh i’ve had all day
In dissent, Justice Stephen Breyer wrote, “The decision threatens to throw into doubt the constitutionality of gun laws throughout the United States.”
this is the “it fucks up our syndicate” “law argument” that lawrence taylor exposes so often and ably that i’ve almost stopped linking to his blog. if you can find a quicker quote to shine light on the dank emptiness of stare decisis, publish it.
the second amendment to the US constitution was, like all of the “bill of rights” save the tenth amendment, a catastrophic mistake (assuming, probably stupidly, good faith on the part of the writers). its raw power lies in the ease with which lunkheads fall into line behind it. fuck the second amendment. fuck the “supreme” court.
good day to note that amid the myriad words capitalized in the US constitution, not once is “supreme” so honored. hey, maybe the constitution doesn’t suck unequivocally. however, my boy lysander retains the last word, as ever:
But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain—that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.
~Lysander Spooner, 1870
