a real education in sex
modern partner dancing preserves — reveres — natural sex roles. this may at first seem to be merely quaint, formal tradition, but it's powerful stuff. i just rented the american remake of Shall we dansu?. though flawed, the remake is a fun watch, and it got me to pull the japanese original off the shelf again.
we are pummeled about the ears in the last few decades with all sorts of "feminist" filth, which generally attempts to create unequal "rights" out of guilt, illogic, and anti-freedom. both versions of shall we dance skewer this nonsense, probably without even knowing it. for example, the end of the japanese version shows a man and woman dancing under spotlight. the man is leading. he is in control. however, i defy every "feminist" motherfucker out there to watch that scene and tell me that he is dominant. he is not. this, the great enigma of sex, eludes the average nitwit. the overt prize, and at least half of the power, are pouring out of the image of the woman. this is where the often stupid da vinci code strikes a refreshing bell. society and history, correctly, are wrapped in the power, and perhaps superiority, of women.
a capture from the special features of the american Shall We Dance DVD:

you think anybody gives a fuck about the man in that pic? that tasty woman is doing (very well) a classic swing maneuver known as the swivel, which i drooled over here. a man may imitate the swivel, but he can never do it. the man initiates the swivel. he tells the woman, "i want you to swivel now, you goddamned sexy, heartbreaking slayer of men", but it's the woman at the heart.
that's only a minuscule aspect of sex roles, but as pure an example as you'll find. women can lead. i've seen women leading swing dancing who kick my ass at it. but... i also have an innate power women don't have. the tragedy lies in pointing the shit out endlessly, bemoaning that i am not a woman, or vice versa. i don't want to be a woman. i only want to live in a world where i don't feel that i'm going to be stabbed in the back treasuring one, or treated as though a woman has everything i have and more. she doesn't. she cannot.
go watch some swing or ballroom dancing. savor sex. most people are one or the other!
