constitution deification

chief LRC dumbbell contender tex macrae posts an excerpt from a houston chronicle article:
[...] Paul, a resolutely libertarian-leaning 10-term congressman from Lake Jackson known chiefly for his anti-war stance and reverence for the Constitution, offers a simple explanation for his cross-party appeal. "There is only one thing — the Constitution and freedom — that brings people together," he said. "It's not divisive."
because newspaper quotes are damned unreliable, i won't bother lambasting that as if it came from ron paul. but how stupid and unprincipled do you need to be throw that crap onto the LRC blog as an RP positive and label it "factual reporting"?

a wide gulf separates those who push for criminals to confine themselves to constitutional-level criminality and those who push the constitution as something worth a fuck. wrongness of constitutional intent aside, spooner noted well that the very act of pointing to the constitution as something which must be returned to is the clearest acknowledgment of its failure. years ago LRC was the most popular place for the message of antifederalism. lew rockwell, via email, showed me the right track regarding the truth of the US constitution. now, because of RP fever, constitution deification is the thing at his site. WTF. you RP fools should be goddamned ashamed of yourselves.

Uncle Salty, how did you end up writing for LRC in the first place? Please tell us a story!

not much of a story, lad, but have a seat next to my chair on the porch and i'll see if i might weave a tale of it.

it all started when, as a huge fan of LRC, i submitted a short, goofy article for publication. it was accepted.

uh... i guess that's about it, and how it works for most LRC writers. hope ya didn't get too comfortable!

unlike most LRC writers, however, i surfed the gauntlet twice — the first time as me, and the second under a fake name and pic (female), after i'd asked lew to delete all my articles and blog posts from the site. the articles went; blog posts stayed, but without my name.

strangely, once lew's published a few of your articles, he lets pretty much anything through. i always suspected it was an exercise in reducing his workload by shifting more editorial responsibility to the writers, but it also fits in nicely with his philosophy of allowing in shit that he doesn't agree with or admire.
