prick of the podiobook world

not a big surprise here, and it props up my policy of not donating for any podiobook — even those i'm enjoying the hell out of — until i've listened to the whole thing. tommy wallach, jerkoff poser of the year, started an episodic podiobook called The Bright Child. don't download it unless you like listening to stories with no ending.

so he didn't finish. big deal. plenty of shit i've started that i haven't finished. what i didn't do, however, was deliver sermons on how much of a cheap bastard you people are for listening to my unfinished shit. yes, prickboy wallach, the asshole, would start episodes by guilt tripping people for not paying. plenty of podiobooks appeal for donations. there's even a boilerplate tag for it. they just don't primp like entitled, tortured artists while delivering laughably fucked up files where the background music source was replaced with crosstalking dialog. yes, you're also an incompetent wankah, tommy tool.

was close to dropping the podcast after hearing his "if you people only knew" shtick, but kept it in case i was bored. the story seemed to be headed somewhere cool. then this:
Actually folks, this book had been halted by the author. Seems the story was not completely written and he will not be continuing. I had hoped he might make a post here to explain that to his listeners, but that didn’t happy.

We’ve removed the book from the “Searchable” list. You can keep your subscriptions if you like, as there is always a chance he’ll come back and finish the book. A little encouragement directly might help that, but I make no promises. :)

Evo
i like that it's unfinished, and i hope it stays that way, as a monument for skepticism toward all paraders. sure, T-bone, i don't walk out of bookstores after taking books without paying. i also don't buy books with half the pages ripped out. fucker.

hey, tommy: eat shit, ya poser wank. gonna refund money you filched under the pretense that you'd deliver a whole product? good for podiobooks for offering to do just that, though probably none of it comes out of your pocket, monkey boy.

stay tuned for recommendations of podiobooks not made by demanding toads. been listening to some great'ns.

Wow. Tell us how you really feel? :)

In all seriousness, you are obviously justified in your ire. But to a point about a policy I've enacted to protect against this very real thing? I don't "fund" any donations to the author until the book is completed. In fact, I very cheerfully refund any donations made to books that are incomplete. We don't want to be viewed as wankers, too. :)

good for you, evo. i've wondered what it must be like for an author who enters the process with the story undone. that pressure can be good for terminal fretters (worked for me when i wrote music under deadline), but it's a risky, potentially very unpleasant prospect.

BTW, finished Grey tonight (in paper form, obviously). not gonna tell you how it ends. :P
