swim with sharks? be a shark? hello!
this brings me mild pleasure... at first:[...] 1st Lt. Jon Anderson said he never expected to come home to this: A government refusing to pay education benefits he says he should have earned under the GI bill.
"It's pretty much a slap in the face," Anderson said. "I think it was a scheme to save money, personally. I think it was a leadership failure by the senior Washington leadership... once again failing the soldiers."
Anderson's orders, and the orders of 1,161 other Minnesota guard members, were written for 729 days.
Had they been written for 730 days, just one day more, the soldiers would receive those benefits to pay for school.
"Which would be allowing the soldiers an extra $500 to $800 a month," Anderson said.the sad part is that they'll probably get their further fucking of tax victims after they violated their oaths to the constitution. this has too much publicity for those involved to honor regulations they pretend to hold sacred.
That money would help him pay for his master's degree in public administration. It would help Anderson's fellow platoon leader, John Hobot, pay for a degree in law enforcement.
"I would assume, and I would hope, that when I get back from a deployment of 22 months, my senior leadership in Washington, the leadership that extended us in the first place, would take care of us once we got home," Hobot said.
Both Hobot and Anderson believe the Pentagon deliberately wrote orders for 729 days instead of 730. [...]
the 729/730 thing here is a common failure of those with small brains. according to the story, if they stayed 730 days they were to get blah blah. if they didn't, they weren't. this is not an obligation that triggers when you get near 730. in this rare case the milgoons acted rationally, limiting expense where they could get away with it. if the soldiers had the slightest honor, they'd keep their fucking mouths shut and realize that they don't deserve fuckall since they didn't make it to 730. was there ever any time they were to be in control of the number of days? why should they be in control now, or pretend that those controlling the number are supposed to ignore that it's a shitload more expensive to keep them 730+ instead of 729?
populist, anti-rational drivel, same as usual. it's everywhere.
Now, six of Minnesota's members of the House of Representatives have asked the Secretary of the Army to look into it -- So have Senators Amy Klobuchar and Norm Coleman.imagine that! who'd have guessed in a million years that such a thing would happen. wow. knock me over and tell me something else surprising as hell.
i gotta get outta here. morons and flag wavers everywhere. any shock US soldiers can't honor a deal they made? of course not. they started by betraying their oaths to support the US constitution and follow only legal orders.
Labels: government dumb, monopolistic incompetence

"It would help Anderson's fellow platoon leader, John Hobot, pay for a degree in law enforcement."
On the bright side there may be one less milgoon going into law enforcement cause they didn't get their precious money from the state.
something tells me he'll get there, hook or crook.
