because I saw the film seven times in theaters, including twice in IMAX (glorious), it wasn’t until today that i sat down and watched more than snippets of V for Vendetta on DVD, though i’ve had it since the release. what a disaster. have to wonder what kind of clods were manning the transfer gizmos. i know they can do better than this bullshit. yep! today’s the day. V for Vendetta is released on DVD in the US. some stores are doing special versions (e.g., best buy version has mask and posters; i’m holding out for the evey used panties edition), but you basically have the pan & scan one-disc (~$14 and up), widescreen one-disc (~$14 and up), or the widescreen two-disc (~$20 and up). though no commentaries or anything, the two-disc sounds halfway decent, setting the field for a double-dip superior version later.
well, i fucked up. i posted a speech and said that it was the center of the film. kinda silly, because if one had to pick the heart of the film, it’s basically a few sentences said not by V, but by valerie. here, to attempt to amend my overcompensating error (was trying to point out that V’s ridiculous alliterative “speech-of-Vs” is getting inordinate attention from supposed fans of the film) is my transcription of the deadly punch from this monumental film, derived from a monumental comic book. major SPOILERS follow:
