somewhat eerie this evening to, on my way to and in a grocery store, be listening to The Third Reich in Power, 1933-1939, my visit wrapped up with two “adults” assuring me somberly that my 47-year-old self cannot buy demon alcohol without: “ID”, or a supervisor eyeballing me to ensure they don’t execute an unforgivable crime against the official crime syndicate.
[…] The report, “Arrest Policies for Domestic Violence,” summarizes the research on the impact of mandatory arrest laws, and concludes such policies have had the opposite of the desired effect. The report is issued by Stop Abusive and Violent Environments (SAVE), a non-profit organization that advocates evidence-based solutions to domestic violence.
The estimated 600 lives lost each year is based on a national study by Harvard University that found mandatory arrest policies increase subsequent homicide rates by 57%. The Harvard study was highlighted in a New York Times op-ed column (“The Protection Battered Spouses Don’t Need” 8/7/2007). […]
this is always the result when “well intentioned” arrogant official-criminal dumbasses fiddle with complexity. in the name of saving women they encourage marginally the murder of women. in the name of “ending drunk driving” they pummel people who wisely (inherently, not given the crime wave that is the state) choose in their cars to sleep off a drunk rather than drive. in the name of children they destroy families.
prosecution? er, not expecting any. listen to this guy tear into the criminals like a bulldog. main meal is about 5 minutes in, but you likely won’t be bored watching the full 15:
those dumbbell slob kidnappers are not exceptional. bottom of the bucket.
I’ve posted in the past about the increasing federalization of drunk driving laws and law enforcement procedures. See Here Come the Feds and The Future of DUI. But even I wasn’t ready for the latest development…
The U.S. Marines have landed…and are apparently manning "sobriety checkpoints" in San Bernardino County in California. Yes, Marines. Yes, civilian DUI roadblocks.
A few months ago I posted about a staged scene designed by MADD in which police officers came to a high school and falsely told students in 20 classrooms that one of their classmates had been killed in a drunk driving accident. Before they were told the truth hours later, many of the kids "were driven to tears – a few to near hysterics". See MADD’s Latest Weapon. The newest version of this tactic:
[...] What is the single most important piece of evidence in most drunk driving cases? The Breathalyzer test. In fact, it’s the ONLY evidence of the crime of driving with over .08% blood alcohol. And it’s pretty important for the “driving under the influence” charge, too: the law presumes the defendant is under the influence if the test result is .08% or higher. Evidence just doesn’t get more important than that.
So, of course, the police are careful to preserve the breath sample, right? I mean, there may be some question later of whether the machine was working correctly; it would be a simple matter to save the sample so it could be tested again on another machine. And, hard to believe, but the defense may not want to just take the officer’s word that he administered the test correctly and that the test results were from the defendant.
Unfortunately, the breath sample is routinely destroyed moments after it is tested.
[...] Take a look at MADD’s 2005 Annual Report. On their list of "Corporate Donors", six corporations are listed as "Platinum Corporate Donors" — that is, donors of $100,000 or more. The first is a telemarketing company, DialAmerica Marketing. Of the remaining five, three are carmakers planning IIDs in their models: Nissan North America, Daimler Chrysler Corporation and General Motors Companies (makers of Saab). See The Truth About Ignition Interlock Devices.
party time for 20+ uniformed lawbreakers on a saturday night! i arrived the way all people should arrive at a mobile police state obedience training center — on foot. please enjoy these brief audio selections of some notable contacts with the ruling class over the several hours of my visit. note that in no case immediately after receiving confirmation that i was “free to go” did i leave the checkpoint. this checkpoint was on the east coast, in a state where only one-party consent is “required” for recording of conversations. thug names have been bleeped out. Defense attorneys would be banned from advertising their expertise with drunken driving cases under a bill advancing in the Senate.
Sen. Rosalind Kurita, a Clarksville Democrat, successfully added the provision to a bill that would create an online registry of repeat DUI offenders in Tennessee.
Kurita says officials have a hard enough time convicting drunken drivers without lawyers advertising their expertise in the field and offering discounts to DUI defendants. [...]
next they’ll be lining ‘em up for skull chocks in garages — anywhere you need an object. every submission to the state encourages this sort of criminal wankery. think about it like a man.
A Wyoming State Trooper called in a false tip to an anonymous driving under the influence (DUI) hotline so that he would have an excuse to pull over and search a vehicle known to be carrying a large amount of cash. The April 7 bogus report has sparked controversy and led to the highway patrol firing Trooper Ben Peech, 36, last week. Federal officials told the Casper Star-Tribune newspaper that the fraud will have no impact on their efforts to keep $3.3 million in seized cash during the traffic stop.
instead of noting from scratch the details of an “investigation” designed to destroy lives for the health of the state, it’s much better for the “arresting officers” (correctly, in most cases, kidnappers) to play fill-in-the-blanks. i mean, of course these geniuses (and their victims) followed the guilty-as-charged playbook. tidily too!
